What Was Here Before You Arrived?

This building dates from few years back, and is a part of redevelopment of the old neigbourhood of Cubura. Sad but inevitable.

Like Grown-Ups

I always like to see the junior football trainees playing an official match. They run, pass and shoot like grown-ups. And their families in the audience shout even louder than some ordinary stadium spectators.

Chimney Cake

It was a festival of Hungarian food and drinks over the weekend. The queue was long, the cake was baked and vanilla was in the air. The name of Kürtőskalács is a bit complicated to remember but Chimney cake is fine. With marzipan.

Roofs of Zemun

The old part of Zemun preserved its 19th century look - narrow, cobblestoned streets and small residential houses. This is the view towards the Danube River and the rest of the city.

Dragon of Avala

One more famous freedom fighter from the 18th century and a friend of Karadjordje (from yesterday's post). Vasa Carapic was mortally wounded by Turkish army in 1806, right on this place, during the battle for Belgrade. Born in a village below the Avala mountain (today a suburb of Belgrade), he was nicknamed "Dragon of Avala".

Meeting Place

Republic Square is a common meeting place for people. And cows. There is a milk advertising campaign going on, with tens of cute cows all around the city center. That is how it probably looked in the medieval times - people and animals together, everywhere.

June Theme Day - Under Construction

The Gazelle Bridge is under construction and this is the resulting effect of it. This road is the part of the  European route E-75. Heading towards the city center - you'll get stuck. But if you'd like to go to Budapest (Hungary), for instance, it's empty.

For more construction works all over the world, click here to view thumbnails for all participants.
